Dr. Ramon Lawrence, University of British Columbia

Dr. Ramon Lawrence is an associate professor of computer science at the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research interests are database systems, embedded devices, and wireless sensor networks. He is the founder of Unity Data Inc. that provides software for data integration from multiple sources and is a database consultant for enterprises requiring Big Data (and small data) solutions. A research partnership with the City of Kelowna on adaptive irrigation systems has improved sustainability and won a best paper award at the IEEE Sensor Application Symposium in 2010. Current research on MongoDB produced software for SQL querying and integrating MongoDB with enterprise relational systems that is used by numerous companies world-wide. Dr. Lawrence is a member of the ACM and IEEE.
