Dr. Sumita Barahmand received her Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California in May 2014. Her doctoral research focused on benchmarking data stores. As a part of her dissertation, she developed the BG framework to evaluate the processing capability of data stores including their consistency, scalability, and performance characteristics. BG was the basis of her Google 2013 PhD Fellowship award in Cloud Computing. Her thesis is the recipient of the 2014 best dissertation award from the USC Viterbi School of Engineering.
