It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in this year’s IDRG conference. Your official invitation and more information will follow in the coming weeks. For now, please save this date in your diary and share the news with your colleagues and network. Please keep an eye on our website and #IDRG17 on Twitter for more information. The first and second editions of the conference brought together experts and practitioners working with data for crisis-affected and vulnerable populations. For the programme and outcomes of the 2015 and 2016 editions, please refer to our website. A variety of presentations and interactive workshops facilitated knowledge exchange on avoiding and mitigating potential risks and harms caused by this type of data use.

The third edition will showcase the most recent work of the IDRG members and our extended network on data responsibility issues in peace, justice and humanitarian action. The conference will have a specific focus on the use of digital data in the European Migration Crisis, and our IDRG fellows will present the results of theirresearch visit to Greece, where they will conduct field research on refugee data ecosystems, in January.

Finally, we would like to draw your attention to the IDRG’s Call for Abstracts. You can find more information, including the admissibility criteria, here. Three selected submissions will be presented in a plenary session during the conference, and will be featured in the annual IDRG report. We look forward to receiving your submissions.
