Phase II of Translator Gator-a language game that uses crowdsourcing to create taxonomies of disaster-related keywords

Social media contains a wealth of insights that can be mined to understand what people think and how they feel about things affecting their lives. However, building a taxonomy of key terms for less-known languages, alphabets or local dialects and jargon, can be challenging.

To support humanitarian and disaster management efforts in the Asia-Pacific region, Pulse Lab Jakarta launched Phase II of Translator Gator, a language game that uses crowdsourcing to create taxonomies of disaster-related keywords for languages spoken in ten ASEAN countries and in Sri Lanka.

The Lab will work with partners to use the taxonomies to develop tools to better understand the concerns of affected populations before, during and after crises.

Play the game and help inform disaster management efforts in ASEAN :https://translatorgator.org
