McObject’s eXtremeDB named Outstanding Structured Database by Computing’s highly-respected Big Data Excellence Awards

29 May 2018, London, New York, Seattle: McObject®, developer of the ultra-fast eXtremeDB® database management system, was announced as a winner at Computing’s renowned Big Data Excellence Awards in the ‘Outstanding Structured Database’ category. The eXtremeDB database system has over 28 million deployments world-wide across a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, telecom and finance. The accolade comes at an exciting time for the company, which recently released eXtremeDB v8.0, offering significant speed improvements and a host of industry-leading benefits for IoT, Big Data, HPC and financial markets. It has also just announced setting multiple STAC-M3™ benchmark records, cementing McObject’s place at the forefront of the industry and establishing a clear new standard for the sector.

Steve Graves, CEO and co-founder of McObject, commented: “We were hugely proud to have been shortlisted by the Big Data Excellence Awards last year, so to go one step further on this occasion and come away with the prize is a great honour. While we primarily feed off our clients’ positive feedback, being singled out by such influential awards is a welcome bonus. It also provides us with even more drive to provide our clients with the best products and services out there.”

Ian Hillier-Brook, CEO of MCO Europe, McObject’s partner in the UK and Europe, received the award at the ceremony. He commented on the success: “I am delighted on behalf of the whole team for this recognition. It’s tremendous for McObject to have won in such a high-quality competition and is testament to the truly innovative work being done and the outstanding quality of the resulting service provided to our clients.”

The Big Data Excellence Awards celebrate the top performers working with Big Data, analytics, and the Internet of Things. The awards’ aim is to recognize organizations, products and projects that are at the forefront of the data and analytics fields. With a panel of judges from top tech companies as well as Computing magazine, the awards identify products and services from organizations which have delivered outstanding results for their clients. The award ceremony, held at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in central London, comprised 18 categories with shortlists narrowed down from hundreds of entrants.

Tom Allen, Chairman of the judging panel, commented: “McObject’s win of the Outstanding Structured Database Award was an impressive victory in a difficult category. Simply being shortlisted for this year’s Big Data Awards was a huge achievement – winning demonstrates a truly market-leading position.”

In its ongoing drive for innovation, eXtremeDB v.8.0 includes extensive functionality for the Internet of Things (IoT). Among other features, eXtremeDB v.8.0 supports ‘storage containers’ to map data on edge devices to a cloud database, and improved connectivity with servers, which together provide valuable functionality for the IoT.
