Use of Native Queries in Sensoring Image Databases
ODBMS.ORG, a vendor-independent non-profit group of high-profile software experts
lead by Prof. Roberto Zicari, today announced the publication of a new whitepaper
on "Hierarchical Land Cover Information Retrieval in Object-Oriented Remote Sensing
Image Databases with Native Queries" by ODBMS.ORG expert
Jiang Li, Associate Professor with the Department of Computer Science and
Information Technology at Austin Peay State University.
This paper, which is available for immediate and
free download (PDF), presents the practical use of Native Queries, which have
first been published in August 2005 in the whitepaper "Native
Queries for Persistent Objects" in an exclusive contribution of William Cook and
Carl Rosenberger to ODBMS.ORG's portal. Jiang Li's paper is another indication
for the adoption of Native Queries, after last month the OMG's Object Database Technology
Working Group has published a discussion whitepaper
which grants native language APIs a prominent role in the upcoming 4th generation
object database standard.
Earlier this year, Jiang Li has already published a paper dubbed "Integrated
Information Mining and Image Retrieval in Remote Sensoring" which describes
the application of ODBMS to deal efficiently with very complex data.
3 New Experts Join ODBMS.ORG
In the meantime, three new experts have joined ODBMS.ORG's
panel of experts:
Grossniklaus has started to publish an entire new lecture series on object databases
from his teachings at ETH Zurich in ODBMS.ORG's
free download section. It is complemented by a new article of expert Jim Paterson of Glasgow Caledonian
University on
Using an Object-Oriented Database in a Web Site.
