eGenium Chooses eXtremeDB for Heavy Earth-moving Equipment
6 June 2023, Bergamo, Italy & Seattle, USA: McObject®, developer of the ultra-fast eXtremeDB® database system for real-time and embedded systems, has announced today that the database has been selected by eGenium S.r.l. for use in its after-market automation system for heavy earth-moving equipment (excavators, loaders, etc.). These systems are retrofitted on to eGenium’s customers’ equipment to present the operator with job information and to gather telemetry data from the equipment (location, load factor, roll, pitch, yaw, acceleration, etc.). eXtremeDB was evaluated alongside other embedded database systems and chosen because of its superior performance, support for eGenium’s target system (NXP MCU i.MX RT1176 and Microsoft Azure RTOS ThreadX), and having the lowest total cost of ownership.
eGenium’s Research and Development Director, Walter Pianetti, says “Technically speaking, eXtremeDB quickly became the leading candidate to address our on-device data management requirements due to its exceptionally small footprint and support for our target platform.
