MySQL Community Manager
The MySQL Community team will be active across conferences, user group meetups, open source events, and regional community activities during the summer months. Whether you would like to hear about the latest MySQL 9.7 updates, meet the MySQL team, join a user group meetup, or connect with the broader open source and developer community, here is where you can find us.
Conferences and Community Events
AOUG: Austria OUG Annual Conference, June 15–16, 2026 | Austria
- Join us at the AOUG Annual Conference, where Matthias Crauwels will present a session on New Features in MySQL.
Sangam AI Yatra Tour India, July 18–19, 2026 | Bangalore & Hyderabad, India
- MySQL will be part of the Sangam AI Yatra Tour India, with sessions planned in both Bangalore and Hyderabad.
- The MySQL program will include a session focused on the latest updates in MySQL 9.7, followed by a community-focused session from MySQL ACE Director Vinicius Grippa, who will highlight selected features and deliver a demo.

COSCUP 2026, August 8–9, 2026 | Taipei, Taiwan
- Don’t miss COSCUP 2026, one of the largest open source events in Taiwan. MySQL will be present as a Gold Sponsor, with a booth and a dedicated MySQL track planned as part of the agenda.

ROGADX 2026, August 14–15, 2026 | Maceió, Brazil
- Join us at ROGADX 2026, a developer and community conference in Brazil. MySQL will be present with a booth and a session in the agenda. More session details will be announced later.
LAOUC Community Tour OraMex 2026, August 14, 2026 | Mexico City, Mexico
- You can also find MySQL at the LAOUC Community Tour OraMex 2026 in Mexico City. MySQL representatives will be part of the Oracle presence at the event. Please watch the organizers’ website for agenda and session updates.
MySQL User Group Meetups
MySQL Macedonia Community Meetup #2, June 3, 2026 | Skopje, North Macedonia
- The MySQL community in Skopje is coming together again for the MySQL Macedonia Community Meetup #2.
- This meetup will feature two practical sessions for developers and DBAs:
- MySQL Indexes for Real World Applications — Perica Jakimov
Learn how InnoDB indexes work, how the optimizer makes decisions, and how to design indexes that improve query performance. The session will cover composite indexes, covering indexes, query plans, and common indexing mistakes.
- Monitoring Your MySQL Server’s Health Trends — Igor Donchovski
Learn how to identify performance and reliability issues before they become problems by tracking key metrics such as full table scans, unused indexes, temporary table usage, lock waits, redo log capacity, and buffer pool efficiency.
- MySQL Indexes for Real World Applications — Perica Jakimov
- After the talks, attendees are invited to join for pizza, drinks, and networking. Attendance is free, so bring your colleagues and friends.
Upcoming MySQL User Group activities in APAC
We are also planning additional MySQL community activities in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan at the end of June and the beginning of July, during the regional visit of Heather VanCura, Vice President of External Standards & Community Engagement at Oracle.
The current plan includes MySQL User Group activities in:
- Tokyo, Japan
- Seoul, Korea
- Taipei, Taiwan
In Japan, MyNA / MySQL User Group Japan will host a meetup in Tokyo on June 30. The registration page will open on June 3 (JST) on connpass.com, and AWS Japan is helping arrange a speaker for the event. The meetup will feature Tomoaki Otsuka (@tom__bo), who will present his feature proposals. Tomoaki is also a MySQL Rockstar candidate and has been active in the community through his MySQL Un-Conference webinar, MySQL-related blog posts, GitHub tools, and patch contributions.
These activities are expected to focus on MySQL community engagement, highlights from the MySQL Contributor Summit, the MySQL Community Roadmap, feature requests, contributions, and continued community feedback.

Upcoming MySQL User Group activities in NA and EMEA
We are also planning or exploring additional MySQL User Group meetups in Riga, New York, and Amsterdam. More details will be shared once dates, speakers, and agendas are confirmed, so please stay tuned through MySQL Community channels and the local group pages:
The Riga meetup is currently being planned with the local community and is expected to include a MySQL-focused session together with additional technical content. New York and Amsterdam are also being explored as future MySQL community meetup locations.
