Tom Deutsch serves as a Program Director on IBM’s Big Data Team. He played a formative role in the transition of Hadoop-based technology from IBM Research to IBM Software Group, and he continues to be involved with IBM Research. Tom started IBMs BigInsights Hadoop-based product, and has helped 300+ customers with Apache Hadoop, Streaming, Cassandra and related big data technologies identifying architecture fit, bug data business strategies and managing early stage projects. Tom is a columnist for IBM Data Management Magazine, The IBM Big Data Hub, Big Data Bytes and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences.

With more than 20 years experience, and two startups, Deutsch is an expert on the technical, strategic and business information management issues facing the Enterprise today. Deutsch earned a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University in New York and an MBA degree from University of Maryland University College.

Tom has several publications to his name including co-authoring Understanding Big Data and Harness The Power Of Big Data. Tom co-moderates the Big Data Analytics Strategy (70,000+ members) at LinkedIn. Tom serves as an Employer Advisory Board member at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. Tom also serves on the Advisory Board for Data Science at California State University, Fullerton.”
