On Real-time Data Integration and Analysis. Q&A with Nicolas Brisoux

Trying to inject real-time capabilities into your existing data infrastructure becomes a complex and expensive task. Traditional tools focused on batch processing won’t enable you to get real time insights; you need fast ingest and processing and a simpler architecture.

Q1. Businesses today generate more and more data, but they often struggle to gain insights from data in real-time. What are the main challenges?

Most enterprises rely on a variety of systems to store and analyze data combined with an array of tooling to move that data around. Trying to inject real-time capabilities into your existing data infrastructure becomes a complex and expensive task. Traditional tools focused on batch processing won’t enable you to get real time insights; you need fast ingest and processing and a simpler architecture.

Q2. Specifically, what are the requirements for real-time data integration and analysis?

Fast data ingest, the ability to scale in-database processing on demand, and avoiding moving that data out of the database for processing. This guarantees that Tableau can deliver insights as fast as the data is ready for querying.

Q3. Why is it so difficult for traditional data analytics solutions to keep up with the increased volume and complexity of data generated by businesses?

Traditional data and analytical tools just don’t have the flexibility to keep up with the changing needs of the business, nor can they meet the speed & scaling demands of large enterprise.

Q4. Tableau and SingleStore provide a combined solution to gain insights from data in real-time. What is it?

Ultimately it comes down to speed, ease of use, and reduced complexity. The combination of SInglestore’s converged data platform and Tableau’s industry leading analytics platform enables real time insights for anyone.

Q5. Technically speaking, what are the main benefits of combining SingleStoreDB Cloud and Tableau’s data visualization?

Tableau makes it easy for anyone to gain insights from their data by removing the complexity of interacting and working with that data. Our unique approach to visual analysis means you don’t have to know SQL or a programming language. When you combine that with Singlestore’s real time data platform, you open a new range of insights to help your business.

Q6. What are the key Business Value for this combined solution?

Ultimately, Singlestore supercharges the ability for Tableau users to see and understand data and thus help businesses become more data driven.

Q7. What kind of applications will benefits the most from this offering?

Many companies rely on real-time anomaly detection to run their business, for example fraud in the financial and insurance industries, while others focused on digital advertising (eg. gaming companies) need the ability to deliver offers or understand marketing campaigns in real time. Frankly, faster time to insight, whether via machine learning or visual analytics, benefits everyone.

Q8. Can you tell us how the two products integrate?

Tableau has had built in connectivity to SingleStore since 2016. For Tableau Cloud customers, it works right out of the box, while our on-premises Server and Desktop customers will need to install a database driver provided by Singlestore.

Q9. What resources are available to help using this solution?

Tableau and Singlestore both have resources available to use our products together, but it’s really as simple as pointing Tableau to your Singlestore database and you are ready to start generating insights.

Qx Anything else you wish to add?

I’d like to thank Singlestore for their continued partnership and their investment in delighting our mutual customers.
